With no Olivier Giroud and just over a day of the transfer window left, Arsenal’s trip to Leicester was the last chance for Arsene Wenger to see whether Yaya Sanogo and the other striking options really could be enough for the Gunners. There was also the small matter of three Premier League points at stake.
Well Sanogo and Arsenal got off to a good enough start, with the Frenchman providing the assist for Alexis Sanchez to put us in front after a beautiful pass from Cazorla. Sanogo was looking dangerous, if a bit clumsy at times. He works hard and has plenty of ability, but he still looked badly in need of his first BPL goal.
But whether the head injury to Koscielny was to blame or not, we were pegged back almost straight away after a pinpoint cross found Ulloa. Chambers camo on for the French defender and that left us sweating on another defensive injury and the rest of the first half was tight.
After the break we got our fluent passing game going a lot better, but without a goal to show for it. In fact Leicester had two great chances on the break and Arsenal were lucky not to be behind. It did not help that Ramsey was having a shocker in the final third or that the ref let them foul contimually, but the lack of a real goal scorer was in evidence again and surely Wenger will do something about that tomorrow.

Championship quality display, we deserved to lose that one really. Players looked like mercenaries. Özil on the left (are f’n stupid Wenger or what?) was horrible, Santi was abysmal, Ramsey piss poor, Debuchy did NOTHING in the match, didn’t even see Flamini and Sanogo came from Ligue 2 to be our main striker. 2. Campbell should have played instead of podolski. Sanchez was supposed to move to CF & CAMPBELL as a RW. He is more match fit than poldi.
3. We still need a DM who’s physical & technical, flamini & arteta are not the answer.
4. Sanogo should have been loaned out by now. He should not be a starter at this stage ahead of someone who spent the last 2, 3 years on loan, campbell. It is shocking that chelsea’s 3rd CF (remy) is better than our current starter.

Mind u if u think sanchez a right footed player, can play LW. for that we dont have to spend 40mil. we have Ox, gnabry etc. Thats our transfer business. Where r we? we still need a st, dm, lw , CB and on top v need another cb for 4th choice.

remember the season opening 6-0 at everton with Cesc ruling the pitch in 2010?..the consensus during that time was that we played too expansive football..we should go for more 1-0 wins..over the last 2 seasons we did exactly that – put the handbrakes on and see out games but now we never seem to be able to release the handbrake..were we not a team who was known for fast counter attacking football..people here may bash my post as much as they want but we never recovered after selling RVP, Fabregas and Nasri..miss those players who could score goals completely on their own..all we do now is pass the ball sideways..I love ozil..but its painful to see him in his current state..he looks lost!
Not good enough. We aren’t using wingers effectively. Why tf Arsene persists with wasting Ozil and Santi on the wings is beyond me. Sanogo over Campbell and more importantly, over Sanchez, is also a mystery. So far as I am concerned we can’t play with santi and ozil together, we need to play with two pacey wingers and quite frankly have got to now sort out what is happening up front AND buy the CDM we need cos the strength in the middle is hopeless. We should be playing fast counter attack football. If we play Ozil we have to do it the middle and accept he is there to play balls through….he is a luxury and won’t get stuck in or effectively track back. I am now even worried about the back four and Merts pace. Changing the shape and positions is also losing any momentum and understanding in the team. I am very disappointed with what is happening!!

The only concern I have is what’s the point of keeping Campbell if we’re not going to play him. Was a great opportunity to give him his first start and I’m sure he would have scored today. Sanogo’s having a serious crisis of confidence. Needs to be eased into the starting 11.
ive always been against Wenger not getting a contract extension, so call me fickle if you want, but its been clear for several seasons Wenger is outdated, ppl just keep making bad excuses for him. 2004 is WAY over, football has changed, Wenger hasnt. To think we have to suffer 3 more seasons of not coming close to the title. We have zero chance with Wenger in charge. Just the harsh reality. I like to remain hopeful but we all know we cannot compete with City or Chelsea, even Liverpool this season.

Last team our team was strong enough to compete with the mediocre PL sides and finish 4th. But this year everyone else has upped their level, sth that we clearly haven’t done. And the one to blame is clearly Wenger. By the way, I really hate all those articles in here with titles like “Now we can compete for the EPL”, “Wow, we are apparently not that bad” etc, etc…

Flamini doesn’t break up play at all anymore, he’s really regressed to the point where Arteta is actually the better defender, and most don’t even feel Arteta can defend.
Monreal seems to be allergic to the grass out by the touchline, far too narrow and other teams exploit this every time he plays.
Ozil has been anonymous in a wide position, why is he being played there?
Sanogo is terrible. Instincts are poor, touch is bad, finishing is horrible.

The most annoying thing is that we have the same manager for almost two decades but the team lacks overall footballing discipline and philosophy the players are just passing the ball and running aimlessly its really shocking!! It’s always the same with Arsenal, we finish fourth, and think that if Wenger buys the right players then we will win the title the next season, although, Wenger never does buy the right players and puts too much faith in our average players like Arteta, Flamini, Sanogo, Giroud and then it’s the same story all over again. We had 100m to spend, we have net spent 29 million which is not acceptable at all. Bottom line is, Wenger evidently lacks ambition still, just Sanchez and two right backs and a backup goalie is certainly not enough to win another trophy this season, not even the league cup.

At this point if I was Campbell I would request a transfer. What’s the point in loading the team with playmakers and leave the runners on the bench? Alexis was the only runner while Ramsey, Cazorla and Ozil (played out of position again) started and Ox and Campbell (can’t even by game time) watched from the bench. Flamini played badly because we have this stupid 4-1-4-1 formation. He has no midfield partner. Ramsey was at his best with a CDM partner next to him when he played deeper. Now he’s playing higher up the pitch, but just playing useless passes when he is so much better than that. First step to doing better is to switch back to a 4-2-3-1 formation. Second step, drop Cazorla, put Ozil in the middle. 3rd, spend the next 48 hours signing a better striker, CDM, replacement CB. And then we can at least begin talking about challenging for any kind of trophy.
We just lack pace, our players can’t read the game defensively, we seem to just wait, wait and wait until the other team does a misplaced pass then we pick up possession..
We can’t close down, we can’t press, our midfielders look so small and slow, they get bullied off the ball so easily..

I wonder how we have 70% possession in games eliminating regular tracking back, hardly making any runs, never pressing high and still players get injured. Lets look at our signings. We have debuchy , ospina as replacements for the departed. Chambers for cover at RB for departed jenks. We needed a 4th choice CB nd v sold TV5 making us now desperate for 3rd choice cb. We signed sanchez while v needed a left footed LW. Mind u if u think sanchez (a right footed player), can play LW. for that we dont have to spend 40mil. we have Ox, gnabry etc. Thats our transfer business. Where are we standing now? We still need a st, dm, lw , CB just like last season and on top v need another cb for 4th choice.

How the hell can we not see that it is wenger’s but not players fault. He wasn’t sure about himself and his capabilities to sign a new contract until he won the fa cup which he did barely overcoming championship side.. That is how arsenal are playing under an absolutely clueless manager. He was successful early in his career may b coz he had excellent players, players who wanted to prove something to the world, who couldn’t bare a defeat, May b wenger was never responsible for that success.
We still do have such players. The likes of Campbell, bellarin, chambers, gnabry, akpom, zelalem, but wenger wouldnt play them. Look how these kids played against benfica in the emirates cup, they wanted to prove that they deserve first team football. U could see the difference the next day when our senior team took on Monaco.
But still it isnt the player’s fault, if your manager doesnt know how to make the team counter-attack, how to make diagonal runs or doesnt have clue against high pressing teams then i only have pity for u players.

Today’s game was the weakest one of the weekend. We looked miserable for all the reasons already stated here.
In addition to looking completely disorganized, why do we have to look like boys among men each time we take the field? We are not Barcelona, we moved the ball too slowly, which only leads to injuries. We are too small with so many CAMs and RWs and tiny CMs. WTF is our strategy this year?! We cannot just hope that Ramsey has another career season. We are completely off balance in personnel and strategy.
i have not seen a forward in the league that Sanogo could outplay. Who is scouting for talent for Arsenal?
