Leicester v Arsenal review – Transfer needs highlighted by draw

With no Olivier Giroud and just over a day of the transfer window left, Arsenal’s trip to Leicester was the last chance for Arsene Wenger to see whether Yaya Sanogo and the other striking options really could be enough for the Gunners. There was also the small matter of three Premier League points at stake.

Well Sanogo and Arsenal got off to a good enough start, with the Frenchman providing the assist for Alexis Sanchez to put us in front after a beautiful pass from Cazorla. Sanogo was looking dangerous, if a bit clumsy at times. He works hard and has plenty of ability, but he still looked badly in need of his first BPL goal.

But whether the head injury to Koscielny was to blame or not, we were pegged back almost straight away after a pinpoint cross found Ulloa. Chambers camo on for the French defender and that left us sweating on another defensive injury and the rest of the first half was tight.

After the break we got our fluent passing game going a lot better, but without a goal to show for it. In fact Leicester had two great chances on the break and Arsenal were lucky not to be behind. It did not help that Ramsey was having a shocker in the final third or that the ref let them foul contimually, but the lack of a real goal scorer was in evidence again and surely Wenger will do something about that tomorrow.

our top four trophy is really at risk this year.

we’ve been poor since last season with only a fews standout matches even then.

    1. JoJo says:

That moment you realise Sanogo will be our striker for the next 4 months..

      1. Dan.M says:

That moment when you realise the 3 promoted teams have better strikers then you

        1. muffdiver says:

          that hurt dan

          1. JoJo says:

Never thought I’d say this but, I’m going to miss Giroud..

          2. muffdiver says:

i still stand by wenger…but this season he has no more excuses.

he had time, the funds, plenty of connections and experience to do as he pleased.

NO MORE EXCUSES this season arsene

          3. JoJo says:

That moment you realise City have Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic and Negredo and are currently pursuing Falcao on a £50m deal.
Meanwhile Arsenal have Sanogo as their only out and out striker and Wenger believes we don’t need a striker.

        2. nygooner says:

          hahaha 😐

        3. Mesut O-thrilled says:

the moment you Koscielny, Ozil, and Ox go down and realize that injuries are still going to be a problem this year.

      2. juhislihis says:

Championship quality display, we deserved to lose that one really. Players looked like mercenaries. Özil on the left (are f’n stupid Wenger or what?) was horrible, Santi was abysmal, Ramsey piss poor, Debuchy did NOTHING in the match, didn’t even see Flamini and Sanogo came from Ligue 2 to be our main striker. Brilliant. Oh and I’m pretty sure Mertesacker is the slowest player in the league.

Wenger AND the players looked happy to get one point from newly promoted team.

Chelsea is playing like champions at the moment. 4 points ahead of us in 3 matches. GD better by +5? They won the same oppositions we barely drew with. Oh boy we will get raped at the Etihad if we keep like this.

        1. rd_gunner says:

A 5-0 at the etihad is in the ranks…horrible horrible display..total lack of quality. Subs on at 75 mins. Cazorla walking off after being substituted..where is the urgency? the desire to win? 3 matches and we are behind Chelsea by 4 points !!!! It’s an uphill battle for 4th now.

Like everyone, I want signings too but how much will external signings change things if this is the attitude of the team..not a single player showed up today! its just the usual pass, pass, pass..stop..pass, pass pass again ! Cannot believe the opposition strikers had more shots on goal.

      3. ljgomez says:

Wenger I have questions for you
        Why did you start Sanogo?
Why Did you play ozil on the left?
Why did you not rotate players??
WHY DID THE OX NOT START??
why did you wait so long to make subs??
Why do you say we don’t need a striker?
Why do you tell our LB And RB to play so high up
leaving us vulnerable to counter attacks??
why is there NO team spirit??
        i could go on……

    2. captinweestain says:

Struggle for 4th place , disgrace, so angry with wneger for his formation, tatics, everything he did was wrong. and what’s wrong with the subs, he should of put the ox on at 60 min not 75, how can he make an impact that close to the final whitsle.
      So mad

      Transfers now!!!!!!!

    3. ranger says:

mr ARSENE two point can decide the title or fourth place.

    4. Hald says:

      Fu**ing Disgrace

    5. mezoafrika says:

Ozil plays like hes witout blood, Carzola mostly predictible, Sanogo needs at least 2 long seasson loans before even entering first team, Debuchy good offensive but sagna is beter defensive,
If wenger dont buy at least one top quality player its another same seasson as last one.
Wenger stop telling fairytales to poor fans if you want so move from the foootball and go write books about trophies.

    6. nyc says:

Everyone would agree: We need a world class striker…. We need a dmf. Everytime Leicester had the ball they ended up taking it into our penalty area. A strong dmf won’t let them come near our area. We need a CB cover. And lastly Wenger needs to sort his head out. Playing wrong people in wrong areas eg wasting a world class amf on left wing. I am very sure we will get smashed at etihad Stamford bridge anfield and maybe at OT too. Our players forget how to play football again these big boys and we only bully small teams. And the cherry to the cake are wengers tactics in big games.

      1. Mesut O-thrilled says:

We can’t even bully the small teams.

  2. goonerretic says:

    oh well

  3. Mick The Gooner says:

One word describes our team over the past few weeks – TOOTHLESS.

    1. th14 says:

Why is our attack so pathetic and slow…
Its been like this for the last year. Can we just play wingers on the wing, f*ck possession we need to be more direct.
We should have lost Leicester had the better chances.
And playing sanogo upfront is like playing a cb there, causes alot of problems and hold the ball but his finishing and composure is 0 he literally just hits and hopes.

    2. PC says:

      Exactly!
And what I observed from this game:
      1. Our left side is not as strong as right side, both defence & attack. We’re fast on the right, but slow on the left, therefore, unbalanced.
      2. Campbell should have played instead of podolski. Sanchez was supposed to move to CF & CAMPBELL as a RW. He is more match fit than poldi.
      3. We still need a DM who’s physical & technical, flamini & arteta are not the answer.
      4. Sanogo should have been loaned out by now. He should not be a starter at this stage ahead of someone who spent the last 2, 3 years on loan, campbell. It is shocking that chelsea’s 3rd CF (remy) is better than our current starter.

  4. Mallu_Gooner says:

    What a joke !

  5. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

Blame Wenger for his lack of tactics not the players. Now I’m worried
Leicester is a very weak side and it was not touch match for Arsenal at all

    1. Mick The Gooner says:

We had so many attempts. Just no one to put the ball in the net. I was on the fence about a new striker before Giroud’s injury, but now it is a must.

    2. NY_Gunner says:

      @NGIH
That is BS. The only guy out there getting under Leicesters skin was Sanchez. Everybody else were just strolling along like they were out on a day in the f**kn park…

      1. No Giroud, I'm happy says:

Who made the selection, @NY_Gunner ? who is responsible for our transfer ?
why even the promoted teams have better strikers ?
        RIP wenger tactics

        1. Mesut O-thrilled says:

Fans say RIP to Wenger tactics.
Announcers say RIP to Wenger tactics.
Players say RIP to Wenger tactics.

Wenger says RIP to listening tactics.

        2. NY_Gunner says:

          @NGIH
Give it a rest dude. Our players just didn’t show up, with the exception of Sanchez and Chambers.

      2. th14 says:

Monreal was good aswell the rest were shocking.

    3. shekar233 says:

When do we gunners learn ?? It was never the players….its that fuc*ing idiot that spoiled the great Arsenal. He knows nothing about tactics. How on earth is it called counter attack when u have 2 defenders in front of u and u still wait for the remaining players of the opposition to re-group and then again play fuc*king tiki-taka?? Mr.stubborn, wenger, please learn that ‘the wilshere kinda goals’ last season against norwich comes once in 100 years, please fu*king stop setting up our team to play meaningless passing game to score such goals.

Just watch Spurs vs Liverpool match today. Look at the high tempo of the game and high pressing. full on from 1′ to 90′

Trust me…..if we can manage a draw against Pool and city at home. That would b a miracle. And talking about injuries, mr. wenger, just stfu and sit quiet. We dont need your heavy workout and training sessions and a special dietician.Let our players train just like other players at other clubs. I wonder how we have 75% possession in games eliminating regular tracking back, hardly making any runs, never pressing high and still players get injured. If we play the Liverpool way or pochettino way(Southampton way), high pressing and quick passing game, we would have our entire squad injured just after 3 matches.

      Now talking about transfers….

Let us not be idiots for once in our life, we even punish our kids when there is something wrong with their behavior. And Arsenal, Arsene & board are no exception.

When we signed Debuchy, ospina, chambers, sanchez, I read people making ridiculous comments like we will win the BPL and some even goin further talkin abaout UCL. remember at the end of last season, we all knew that we needed a St, a DM, LW and a 4th choice CB. Lets look at our signings. We have debuchy , ospina as replacements for the departed. Chambers for cover at RB for departed jenks. We needed a 4th choice CB nd v sold TV5. Wow, we signed sanchez while v needed a left footed LW. Mind u if u think sanchez a right footed player, can play LW. for that we dont have to spend 40mil. we have Ox, gnabry etc. Thats our transfer business. Where r we? we still need a st, dm, lw , CB and on top v need another cb for 4th choice.
F*ck wenger. hes gonna make 1 huge signing per season. by the time he signs 11 big players , the previous signings are gonna cross their 30 yrs age. I pity us for the treatment towards us by our club.
How the hell can we not see that it is wenger but not players fault, he was successfull early in his career only coz he had excellent players, players who wanted to prove something, who couldnt take a defeat, never was wenger responsible for that. We do have such players still Campbell, bellarin, chambers, gnabry, akpom, zelalem, but that idiot ,wenger wouldnt play them. Look how they played against benfica in the emirates cup, they wanted to prove that they deserve first team football. U could see the difference the next day when our senior team took on monaco. But still it isnt their fault, if ur manager doesnt know how to make the team counter-attack, how to make diagonal runs or doesnt have clue against high pressing teams then i only have pity for u players. Poor ozil and sanchez, from playing beside Ronaldo and messi they have come to a team that has a french striker from league 2 as 2nd chioce, not to mention the 1st choice.

  6. NY_Gunner says:

We need “F**KN FIGHT” in our players.

    1. Sumo says:

      Agreed.
But they completely parked the bus. Nothing much you can do then.
We were able to break down CP due to a set piece routine.
Also the refree was Anthony Taylor.

  7. medvet says:

The only person who we must blame is wenger… and do not ask why….
poor tactics, poor selection of player, late substitutions and ZERO signings…..
Arsene do not know best… end off

  8. RWRW says:

WENGER OUT!!!! HE HASNT GOT A FCUKING CLUE

    1. JoJo says:

      LOL Chill

      1. muffdiver says:

i imagine he’s punching his own face in the mirror while saying
‘look wenger..LOOK WHAT U MADE ME DOOOOOOO’

  9. RSH says:

Here we come 4th place. All Wenger is capable of. Outdated manager.

  10. REiGN says:

Last week was a point gained, this week is a point dropped. We are having a very poor start this season even though we are still unbeaten. Something has to be done.

  11. henry12 says:

Such f*cking bullsh*t SO pissed at Wenger right now. Sanogo is not going to win you sh*t and now we’ll be lucky to even make top 4. We need a striker so badly and we went for Remy, now he’s a Chelsea player, whoopdief*ckingdoo. Goodbye premier league, Champions league, FA cup and even Capitol one.

  12. Dan.M says:

Isit transfers? Or isit tactics .. This possession football is not working and in the modern game it is not how you win a game .. You need pace and energy which we do not have in the starting XI .. We play too slow from end to end and slow build up allow defences to settle and get organised .. We need to play more on the counter attack with pace which is how u win games and play attractive footy in the modern game .. Boring game but it has been like this for about 2 seasons now

    Striker ASAPP

    1. Geerude says:

      Agree, the structure isn’t working!

    2. th14 says:

This Target man with One winger bullsh*t isnt working. All it does is increase possession leave us to get countered and we attack with no pace.
We need a ST and we need to play 2 wingers or buy a speedy no10 like nasri, hazard or reus if you wanna play this stupid system.

  13. Arsenalover says:

We don’t need St or DM… we need new manager

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @Arsenalover
We need f**kn players who are gonna fight.

      1. th14 says:

Its not like we were getting bossed or bullied we lack cutting edge, we lack pace, we lack width, we lack movement, no one drives at the opposition defence, everything is just slow, lethargic and unbalanced.
We need to start playing people in their natural positions.

        1. NY_Gunner says:

          @th14
          Exactly…

    2. arsenalfan1 says:

      @arsenalover
Spot on, Wenger’s the real problem behind all our other difficulties.

  14. nygooner says:

We cannot create. It’s like there is 0 energy/passion. It’s like our starting 11 have never played with each other. I’m just at a loss for words. I’m pissed off but this is just sad. Our central defense/midfield is where I see the most need.

  15. Invincibles14 says:

Wenger – ““If we buy somebody, somebody will have to go. We have too many strikers.” WHO ARE THE STRIKERS? Sanogo stinks, Podolski in that 30 minutes when he came on was totally anonymous, and you won’t even give Joel Campbell a god damn chance. This is the same old Wenger, guys. We need a new striker, or Wenger needs to go

    1. medvet says:

      15 mins not 30 mins

  16. Matt says:

Knew we could not get one game without injuries, Koscielny, Chamberlain and Ozil, what a f*cking surprise! our players are f*cking nonces and don’t warm up or train properly! we have a shit French striker and all Wenger will do tomorrow or later is sign a shit 3rd choice centre back, absolutely awful, we will get slaughtered by Man City in two weeks.

  17. Geerude says:

Anybody else think our defensive structure as a whole is unbelievably poor? We’ve got the cattle but the system lets us down time and again!

  18. RWRW says:

IM GOING TO BE FIRST PERSON TO SAY IT. OZIL WILL NOT WANT TO PLAY WITH US SOON. SAME GOES WITH ALEXIS, WILSHERE, OX. HE IS RUINING THIS CLUB

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @RWRW
You could have kept that bullsh*t to yourself…

      1. RWRW says:

        ny_gunner.

Stick to baseball and leave the football to us. you clearly dont have a clue either

        1. goonerretic says:

          @RWRW
          True that

          1. muffdiver says:

thats harsh man, so what if hes from usa?
doesnt make him any less a fan.

        2. Invincibles14 says:

Arsenal fans are welcome from all countries, religions, backgrounds, etc. Please do not discriminate based on stereotypes. Thank you.

        3. NY_Gunner says:

          @rwrw
Stick to blowin farm animals and save that other bullshit for someone who gives a f**K, muppet…

    2. Luko Bratzi says:

And he say that Podolski is better on the left flank and not down the middle so where does he put him down the middle as for Ozil the sooner he goes the better he is slowing our game up ok for Germany as they have better players that make him look good CB

  19. SA_Gunner says:

Ok…honestly…I think we can all admit that Ozil is really not good enough and never will be. Also Wenger is being a massive dick in the transfer market.

    1. muffdiver says:

wrong ozil is constantly played out of position

      1. SA_Gunner says:

Our midfield three continuously rotate places allowing Ozil the freedom to drift. He’s not played out of position…he just sucks. The Germans no it and we know it. I used to be one of his most ardent defenders but I’ve grown tired of his awfulness. This side is so far away from the quality the likes of City and Chelsea posses. Oh to be a Gunner.

    2. Luko Bratzi says:

You are dead right been saying it since he came waist of money and why late in changes says a lot about Wenger, he moans when last season not having subs, the bench was full and he left that tall Zulu up there doing nowt Bendtner was far better than him He is late in getting one all other teams have beaten arsenal in the striker position He can’t honestly say Sonargo will do till Giruid gets back please tell me I’m wrong CB

  20. arsenal_indonesia says:

Even worst than last year. Am afraid europa league for next year. The quality is just not there. Unless wenger pull a rabbit and buy cavani/falcao before the end of the deadline day tmrw.

    1. rd_gunner says:

Unfortunately it looks too late now..

  21. ArsenalGenes says:

If Wenger sees sanogo as Giroud replacement, he is more deluded than Bendtner.. Never in my life seen such a stubborn c*** … Shame on you wenger Shame on you…… GTFO

  22. Daedric_Lord says:

sanogo is better played in midfield like diaby, great ball protection and a strong presence but useless in front of the goal

  23. TioMoses says:

Need a striker. More than 20 attempts at goal and only 1 goal. Other than that we barely came close. Away at a newly promoted team early in the season, it’s inexcusable to be dropping points, and to be honest despite our higher number of attempts, they came closest to scoring a winner, not us.

Wenger will hear some serious stick from the fans & media if he doesn’t buy a striker tomorrow…

  24. jithin says:

    “We have SANOGO,we have podolski,we have campbell,we have…….”
    Where were they all???????????????????

    1. Aditya says:

      you know nothing arsene wenger……lol

      1. Ks-Gunner says:

lol, wenger then gets hit a by an arrow and resigns ( not die)

  25. Cartman says:

Look on the bright side. We are unbeaten so far. Invincibles 2 is still on.

  26. Aditya says:

Lost 2 points striker needed very much …….
had to say this missing girouds one touch passes nd hold up play.
wanted an out and out striker even remy can do the work no presence in the box.

  27. jackieboy says:

Wengers decisions in the next 24 hours are gonna be the difference between a successful trophy winning season or mediocrity which has plagued us prior to last season. Get you head out your rear and your chequebook out Wenger!

  28. Rockymountain_Gooner says:

The persistent cluelessness of Wenger in team selection, player positioning, inability to inspire fighting spirit in his players and sluggishness/lack of proactiveness in the transfer market has and will ruin is Legacy at this great club.

  29. Bolly says:

No need for a new manager or team on this site just new supporters!,,

    1. RWRW says:

FCUK YOU BOLLY. YOU ARE AS STUBBON AND STUPID AS WENGER

    2. Mesut O-thrilled says:

Wenger started off so strong in this transfer window, but when the f*ck is he gonna realize that his job is not complete?

  30. vijaygunner says:

    ugly tight puma kits out!!!

    1. captinweestain says:

Sod the kits man, thats the least of our worries dude

      1. vijaygunner says:

i don’t know man it looks as though its sucking the life out of ozil…

  31. Demwan Jones says:

Its like all these arsenal players are made of glass, they can’t play 3 straight games without picking up a knock or an injury. I think the physio must be crap

  32. vish says:

Too much of tiki taka with no end result
ozil to sanchez , sanchez to cazorla, cazorla back to ozil and this goes on and on until the ball goes out of play due to dispossession.

Why cant someone take a god damn shot? We play too many 1-2s outside the penalty area.

Heavy metal football is required with pace and energy

    1. Glen says:

Vish – Tiki tak is not the problem Ozil thinking who can i play with a decent first touch Sanchez and Carzola hmmm Sanogoal i in a good position, ok I play him – Let try – FUUUUUCKK why, why, why did I not listen to my self. EVERY time I try, I regret it right away. Next time i´ll play the ball to Sanchez. Sanchez thinking thinking who can i play with a decent first touch…….

  33. Eric says:

I need someone to convince me wenger is not our problem? Where are the 7 strikers we have according to that idiot

    1. muffdiver says:

      ITS NOT THEIR FAULT!!

      the pitch was poor
the halftime oranges were out of date
celia dumped three of them on friday

  34. reddb10 says:

I still cant believe Leicester did not win that. they were excellent and committed. Another Arsenal game where our boys are put in their place by men. Winning the FA cup was a curse in disguise as wenger continues to play every team with the same game plan.
Pathetic display from Arsenal and even more pathetic from Wenger who finally decided to bring on some fresh legs with 15 minutes to go.

  35. Cartman says:

If this match doesn’t show Wenger how much we NEED a top striker and top CDM, nothing will

    1. mike1977 says:

I honestly believe that Wenger purposely played Yaya for this game to test this theory out. It would seem we need someone urgently.

      1. medvet says:

you sounds like a deludes one… no offense

  36. mike1977 says:

Transfer needs highlighted. I’d suggest getting a manager who knows how to play players in their proper positions. Brings subs on too late once again, and why the hell he brought Podolski on instead of Campbell when we badly needed a pacey player who can take others on eludes me completely. Lame performance. We had shed loads of chances yet Leicester’s were by far more clear-cut and we could’ve easily lost. 5 points from 9 and it could so easily have been only 3 from 3 games.

  37. Alexxx says:

Flamini and Sanogo are shitty players

  38. ymoola says:

I couldnt fault the midfield much. Big teams need big strikers!! Invest in a world class striker and problem solved.

  39. Demwan Jones says:

If we don’t sign a new striker, I suggest that akpom should be our starting striker, at least we have nothing to lose

  40. RWRW says:

What you dont understand is- even if wenger brought cavani, wenger would still find a way to fcuk things up. its obvious in everything we do. Its obvious we dont pracise set pieces (same shti every time, hit and hope). He has the most electric runner in the Ox on the bench and he starts games with Sanogo.

THIS IS IT NOW- WENGER OUT!!!!

    1. muffdiver says:

cant understand wengers tactics, subs, time of subs, formation

like nearly every game we’ve played since last season.

      got love for our manager..
but mesut ozil is not a winger
      sanogo is not ready
cazorla is in wrong position an inconsistent
we need a dm…we need buys
list goes on….why is it he cant see all this

  41. SuperNas says:

Sanogo is the worst player ever played for arsenal.

    1. muffdiver says:

thats harsh…denilson, the squid, cygan, theres many who are worse.

      no knee jerk reactions dude!

  42. Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass Pass

Is that the only thing you teach them in training wenger

Cause it’s been a few weeks now and all I see is this b######t

    No Tactics
No surprise why we don’t win and big games

    1. muffdiver says:

TONY– go do a line of coke from your desk grab that big gun u use…
      and bury these cock-a-roaches!!!

    2. stephenranger says:

Even most of the passes are not accurate.

  43. Twig says:

So, is this it? Arsenal has become a complete waste of time.

    1. captinweestain says:

God knows what Alexis is thinking?

    2. Mesut O-thrilled says:

Was that team that played the Community Shield just a fluke? Our tactics, desires, fluidity, and cohesiveness have gone out the window like Wenger’s mindset in January. We can’t afford to be losing points to teams like Leicester. Something has gotta give Wenger, f*cking do something about it!

  44. lol2304 says:

Dear 4th place, we have been dating for quite a while now… you have enabled me to access to champions league money and for that the board of directors are REALLY GRATEFUL, but sincerely im not worthy of you anymore, you are too good for me.. so, for the welfare of both of us, breaking up is my decision. Dont get me wrong, you are will be my one and only love but i have to be ambitious now and look for a better date; midtable.

    lots of love,
    xoxo
    Arsenal

  45. captinweestain says:

We have a better team this season, however we are playing worse ?

    1. O2-Home kit says:

Ozil on the wing, Sanogo up front

  46. goonerretic says:

We all talk about striker striker striker but AFC has a chronic midfield problem…..where players never seem to really show up and clear chances are not created..no killer ball. This has been like that for about 3 years now.I remember RVP having to drop deep to get things moving……And to think Cesc went to Chelsea

    1. ihsan says:

      Rosicky is the answer.

  47. GOONSTER says:

We have Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Wilshere etc.. Fabregas is not needed..

Where would a world class creative player like him fit in in our CL and EPL standard midfield?

    We can’t create a chance for a lollipop…

    smh

    1. gamer says:

if cesc was in our team the same problem would happen doesant your small football brain understand that. the only rwason cesc is shining is becuase he has costa up top hazard on 1 wing and shurler willaim on the other you are soo clueless about this

      1. goonerretic says:

        Biatch please

  48. SirKnight says:

Seriously this was 2 points lost instead of 1 gained. So frustrated for the fact we should be putting away teams like this. It’s feels like we’ve lost the damn game and up next is City. If we don’t get at least 1 new attacking option we not winning a thing…

  49. dopplesoldner says:

The players were passing the ball sideways as if we were 3-0 up.

Was watching Liverpool earlier and even at 3-0 up, their first instinct was to move forward quickly. What has happened?

  50. Ks-Gunner says:

Atletico Madrid has half the quality we have and yet we fail. Where is the problem i wonder?

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @Ks-Gunner
Because Atletico has a team full of “fighters” They play the same tactics every game and they fight like “junk yard dogs” every match also. Our guys suck off the ball. Sanchez was the only guy pressing, while the other guys looked at him like he was f**kn nuts for doin so.
We’ve proven, that if we “turn up” on the day, we’re just as good as anybody. Problem is, we only turn up every now and then.
      Not good enough…

      1. muffdiver says:

        real talk!

i would say we rarely turn up. not even now an then

  51. Matt says:

You couldn’t even hear our fans at the game, so much for getting behind the team.

  52. Invincibles49 says:

What is the use of bench when u can’t fu*king use them ? No Rosicky, no Campbell till now. No Giroud for 4months. No striker for 4 months. Whole window wasted. Feeling sick. Disgusted.

    1. Matt says:

      Agree with every word.

  53. JADON says:

Do we really have a manager? I don’t blame our players, we have top quality players that can produce more top quality performance than they are producing at the moment, but in my opinion we simply do not have an ambitious manager to get the best out of the players that we have. Is Wenger cursed not to make substitutions before the 75th-80th minute mark? All we need is a manager who will bring the best out of the players we have, at the moment it’s just like everyone is playing how they want to. So sad. I feel for Ozil.

    1. mike1977 says:

If Mourinho or Rogers was in charge instead of Wenger we’d be doing pretty good by now.

  54. Hald says:

Fu**king Disgrace.Slow like a snail Mert cost us the match. His pace was exposed now and then. And Wenger the idiot what is the need of keeping a brilliant talent like Campbell,If you want to rot him on bench?

  55. HEYCH says:

    HAHAHAHA Sanogo!
    HAHAHAHA Flamini!

What teams will feel some sense of fear when they see these sort of players on the starting line up? NO-ONE.

    Sort it out AFC.

  56. oz says:

The players are there but the tactics wenger use is wrong, totally wrong i wish he can just resign, very soon ozil and sanchez will leave bcus wenger aim is top 4 not trophy

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @oz
The players are there, but they’re not “Showin up”

  57. captinweestain says:

Same shite, different match, something has to change!

    1. muffdiver says:

you’ve changed your tune. you were positive after sanogo’s 4 goals in a pre season that he was the truth…whats changed bro?

      1. captinweestain says:

That game, i just watched, what is this, a whicth hunt, get off my back dude

        1. muffdiver says:

          sorry man.

          1. captinweestain says:

All cool, i’m just really REALLY ANGRY!

  58. reddb10 says:

Arsene Wenger: No we are not interested in fabregas. we already have many midfielders at AFC.

  59. Invincibles49 says:

To tell you the truth , Leicester dropped 2 points today rather then gaining 1 point.
Mou would be waiting for Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. He must be drooling. He likes to humiliate Wenger and he must be fancying his chances once again.

  60. GOONSTER says:

I don’t know how Wenger has completely changed the team from a high possession, high chance creation team to a functional and boring to watch team…

We have become a boring team to watch since Cesc and Nasri left.. I don’t like this pragmatic and robotic kind of team we have turned into..

    So frustrating …

    1. goonerretic says:

“We have become a boring team to watch since Cesc and Nasri left”.
      Excellent comment

    2. rd_gunner says:

remember the season opening 6-0 at everton with Cesc ruling the pitch in 2010?..the consensus during that time was that we played too expansive football..we should go for more 1-0 wins..over the last 2 seasons we did exactly that – put the handbrakes on and see out games but now we never seem to be able to release the handbrake..were we not a team who was known for fast counter attacking football..people here may bash my post as much as they want but we never recovered after selling RVP, Fabregas and Nasri..miss those players who could score goals completely on their own..all we do now is pass the ball sideways..I love ozil..but its painful to see him in his current state..he looks lost!

  61. gooner100 says:

Not good enough. We aren’t using wingers effectively. Why tf Arsene persists with wasting Ozil and Santi on the wings is beyond me. Sanogo over Campbell and more importantly, over Sanchez, is also a mystery. So far as I am concerned we can’t play with santi and ozil together, we need to play with two pacey wingers and quite frankly have got to now sort out what is happening up front AND buy the CDM we need cos the strength in the middle is hopeless. We should be playing fast counter attack football. If we play Ozil we have to do it the middle and accept he is there to play balls through….he is a luxury and won’t get stuck in or effectively track back. I am now even worried about the back four and Merts pace. Changing the shape and positions is also losing any momentum and understanding in the team. I am very disappointed with what is happening!!

  62. Toni balle says:

One word to describe Arsenal fans…fickle. One week in Arsene we trust, the next week Wenger out. Hilarious honestly. The only concern I have is what’s the point of keeping Campbell if we’re not going to play him. Was a great opportunity to give him his first start and I’m sure he would have scored today. Sanogo’s having a serious crisis of confidence. Needs to be eased into the starting 11.

    1. RSH says:

ive always been against Wenger not getting a contract extension, so call me fickle if you want, but its been clear for several seasons Wenger is outdated, ppl just keep making bad excuses for him. 2004 is WAY over, football has changed, Wenger hasnt. To think we have to suffer 3 more seasons of not coming close to the title. We have zero chance with Wenger in charge. Just the harsh reality. I like to remain hopeful but we all know we cannot compete with City or Chelsea, even Liverpool this season.

    2. Stef_Hur says:

We are not fickle fans. Last match we scrapped a narrow 1-0 win against a poor Besiktas. Had Ba put that header in, the rage from the fans would have been unbelievable! Last team our team was strong enough to compete with the mediocre PL sides and finish 4th. But this year everyone else has upped their level, sth that we clearly haven’t done. And the one to blame is clearly Wenger. By the way, I really hate all those articles in here with titles like “Now we can compete for the EPL”, “Wow, we are apparently not that bad” etc, etc…

  63. jithin says:

I admire Wenger, but now its almost impossible to win PL with such a stubborn and inflexible manager who believes what he thinks is always right…
I cant understand the logic how someone like campbell who played as a striker in world cup doesnt get a nod ahead of Sanogo who is not even good as Akpom.

  64. TioMoses says:

Flamini doesn’t break up play at all anymore, he’s really regressed to the point where Arteta is actually the better defender, and most don’t even feel Arteta can defend.

Monreal seems to be allergic to the grass out by the touchline, far too narrow and other teams exploit this every time he plays.

Ozil has been anonymous in a wide position, why is he being played there?

Sanogo is terrible. Instincts are poor, touch is bad, finishing is horrible.

Another game where we drop points and people will look at Wenger.
Why haven’t you bought a striker?
Why do you insist on playing players out of their positions?
You had a chance to press for the win and a pacy striker on your bench in Campbell, why bring on Podolski (who barely touched the ball by the way)?
Where is anything that resembles a useful DM in our squad?

I like Sanchez as a player, but it’s another summer where we had bigger needs and went for a flashy name rather than filling an actual need.

    1. Stef_Hur says:

And why are there no reporters who ask that kind of questions at the press conferences?
Wenger has even the nairve to become offended when a reporter stresses the inadequities of the squad. He is so arrogant sometimes!

  65. mike1977 says:

Man City up next guys lol. We haven’t performed like Arsenal once this season so far.

  66. Invincibles49 says:

So we have already dropped 4 points without even playing Liverpool, ManC and Chelsea yet. Looking at our performance i want to add ManU and Spurs too.

  67. mike1977 says:

What also makes our game against Man City worse is that they lost so they’ll want all three points against us.

  68. theMan says:

The most annoying thing is that we have the same manager for almost two decades but the team lacks overall footballing discipline and philosophy the players are just passing the ball and running aimlessly its really shocking!! The real heroes are arsenal fans we keep on hoping every year we even hoped to beat chelsea in AW’s 1000th game and the rest is history. We hoped atleast we could see our old arsenal back this season but as things stand we are in for another disappointing season.I’m not judging a team after three games I’m talking of the Manager with more than a 1000 games in the premier league who so far looks absolutely clueless!!!

  69. Eric says:

You will never find an idiot like flamini or arteta playing for a top team because the were once good. Only arsenal and their stupid manager and some supporters sees mediocrity players as squad players. Like seriously can flamini play for madrid or even chelsea? This players are old and dead. Why paying them to give you has been performance. I knew wenger was a bunker when he kept both arteta and flamini. One at least need to go or even both. He did not sign them at their peak now he is expecting them to perform miracle at old age. Idiot. Idiot

  70. sagar says:

This game was screaming for a striker which wenger for unknown reasons doesent want to buy….although i hate mourinho to the core but he is ruthless and buys the players needed at the moment…4th place it will be again and i am 100% damn sure about it…call me pessimist or anything but it has been 3 seasons we have been needeing a striker and dm but wenger just dont buy them

  71. Matt says:

It’s always the same with Arsenal, we finish fourth, and think that if Wenger buys the right players then we will win the title the next season, although, Wenger never does buy the right players and puts too much faith in our average players like Arteta, Flamini, Sanogo, Giroud and then it’s the same story all over again. We had 100m to spend, we have net spent 29 million which is not acceptable at all. Bottom line is, Wenger evidently lacks ambition still, just Sanchez and two right backs and a backup goalie is certainly not enough to win another trophy this season, not even the league cup.

  72. DANDY GUNNER says:

Arsenal have nothing in the last third of the pitch Sanogo looks like a new baby Fawn all over the place. If Wenger does not address Arsenal’s need for a Top Class Striker and buy one right now he should be SACKED. A blind man can see we need a Top Class Striker. What do Top Class Strikers do they score goals lots of goals we seem to be depending on our midfield players to score. Today’s performance was a disaster total rubbish. But Wenger will come out with his usual CRAP at press conference. I am sick to the back teeth with this out of date Manager.
He is not going to change it is TIME for him to go and if he does not go himself then he should be pushed.

    1. Stef_Hur says:

Couldn’t agree with you more, I liked the fact that you used capital letters to adress the major points.

  73. Invincibles49 says:

Joel Campbell who has world cup caps to his name and one of the most influential players for a Quarter Finalist team is not as good as a certain Yaya Sanogo.

This is Arsene Wenger for you ladies and gentlemen.

  74. Sumo says:

    Oh dear.
One team that parks a bus.
    And our fans gone mental.
    Oh dear.
Wenget out brigade in full swing.
    Dear lord,
Give Sir Wenger the strength to survive this ordeal.
For all you AKB’s like me, lets go hiding till this storm blows over and the good old days are back.
    Oh dear.
    😉

    1. Invincibles49 says:

Good Old Days??? You must be realllyyyyy old i reckon ?

    2. muffdiver says:

althought i disagree with wenger out brigade.

this parking the bus excuse is wearing thin sumo.

      its leicester city.
      not athletico madrid.

      their bus isn’t worth sh*t

      1. Sumo says:

20+ fcuking attempts. They were well drilled in defending.
If their are 20 + attempts and we can’t score how do people pin it on Wenger?
        Morgan-their captain-was pretty solid.
And the full team was sh*te. I blame Koscielny for their equalizer.
But people on here calling Wenger names, is stupid.

      2. NY_Gunner says:

        @muffdiver
They did put in a damn good shift Muff D. That you can’t take away from them. Our guys lack the balls to take the game to em, just like they did to us…
Sanchez should be our MOTM for his work rate and goal…

    3. Ks-Gunner says:

He is not a Sir. And before those times come back Wenger will be long gone

      1. Sumo says:

For me he is. Sir Arsene Wenger. And we had good times last year. After we won the FA Cup. Didnt you notice? Oh dear, how can i forget- even the community sheild.

Next week we will again beat ManC. Wonder what you will say than.

        @Invincibles49
By good old days i meant the days when people has no want of Wenger’s head on a platter.

  75. Simon_MrMac says:

We played with two number 10’s in Ozil & Carzola. Ozil out of position on the wing, he had a shocker today- why he was on at the end I’ll never know-

I know Ill get thumbs down, but put a Campbell or Podolski on the left and we would have had much better shape, with more penetration, and pull their defenders out wider, creating more space-

New striker is absolute must. Had 2 f’in years to find one-
Now only a few hours left. No possible excuse for that!

  76. Arsenalover says:

    bring Wilfried bony
at least he is better than Sanogo

    1. captinweestain says:

Sonogo played like a shite heskey, true story.

  77. medvet says:

Arsenal MOTM: Monreal (for me) with sanchez…. that is sadly awesome… really sad….

  78. Stef_Hur says:

Holly cow what an awful display that was! We keep on playing the same way, even Championship sides have learned how to defend us, we must change our game tactics immediately! I prayed Ozil and Cazorla would just pick up the pace and start to defend a little, but no, mr. 42million only walks! Wenger, buy the damn players needed, or else your days in the club are limited!!!

  79. Matt says:

Nigel Pearson, Leicester’s manager said ‘We didn’t feel threatened today’ that’s Leicester saying that… Imagine how much Chelsea, City and Liverpool with laugh at us when they come up against Sanogo.

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @Matt
Last time I checked Leicester was a Premiere League squad. They didn’t get promoted because somebody liked em. They fought for it just like they fought today. Some of you guys think that the only teams capable of beatin us are from the top 5/6 EPL table. Grow up…

  80. SirKnight says:

At this point if I was Campbell I would request a transfer. What’s the point in loading the team with playmakers and leave the runners on the bench? Alexis was the only runner while Ramsey, Cazorla and Ozil (played out of position again) started and Ox and Campbell (can’t even by game time) watched from the bench. To top it off he puts our most anonymous player in Podolski on as a ST after knowing he can’t be the lone guy there… Frustrated!!!

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @SirKnight
That would be a sad b*tch azz’d move by Joel. I’m sure he has more integrity than that…

  81. Eric says:

To ever believe Nigel de jong for around £7 million won’t solidfy our midfield and put fear into opposition. And don’t tell me he does not know how to play on the deck. He completed the most past in the EPL in 2008 with 90%. And he was awesome for the dutch at the world cup and always. Wenger will just sit on his ass. He doesn’t even know how to get bargains. Idiot once again…. I hate you wenger

  82. Invincibles49 says:

A manager who gets new years contract for wining an FA cup after 10 years likes to keep average players like Flamini, Arteta, Sanogo, Giroud, Monreal in the squad , plays them regularly and treats the glass bone Diaby as a new signing every day. Well i am not surprised!

  83. gmv8 says:

24 chances on goal and 1 converted – any idea what we’re lacking?

  84. marley magic says:

Can Wengers buy out clause be triggered pls ………same shite different year…

“Aussie gunner for life and the next”

  85. sonny says:

Wenger dat was poor team seletion poor tactics poor decision making so pathetic…..jus get us a striker man, l dont care how much faith you have on sonogo

  86. CraigZWE says:

    oh shut up Wenger

  87. trini68 says:

I can’t help but think Fabregas should’ve been brought back. As much as I understand Wenger for not bringing him back, he’s an incredible player. Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day.. This team is having some difficulties that will be costly.

  88. Invincibles49 says:

    Meanwhile Jose Mourinho is drooling.

    1. NY_Gunner says:

      @Invincibles49
Then go blow him, help him get relief…

      1. Sumo says:

Ha ha ha. NY i am laughing my stomach out. How do you come up with these?
        Harsh.

  89. ihsan says:

Rosicky and Campbell never ever get a chance to play! Our team performance is very very bad, against crystal palace, everton , besiktas, and now leicester city. In conclusion, WENGER OUT.

  90. Horliquegold says:

So just one poor game means you want to sack all the players and manager.
supporting arsenal is not by force dude, you guys can support man shitty..
one poor games u guys are all clicking the panic button..
hahahahahahsh so now everybody believes giroud has been helping the team, thats funny considering how u all insult giroud every single day..
.its was just a bad game by all the players.
wenger will need to buy a decent striker and a defensive midfielder..

TONI BALLE THANKS SO MUCH FOR THAT COMMENTS… I CANT STOP LAUGHING AT THE FICKLENESS OF SOME SOCALL ARSENAL FANS.

  91. gmv8 says:

Wenger is continually looking for the new Henry. You can’t do that in crunch matches – he has to be brought up to speed, while someone more experienced scores the goals.

  92. CraigZWE says:

decision to find st is not a decision to make, it depends on quality of personal.

    what garbage is he saying

  93. Kotte says:

Some things wil neva change at Arsenal!

  94. Demwan Jones says:

Arsene will probably sign a shitty player like David Ngog, afterall he’s french and a free agent. Lol

    1. muffdiver says:

      hahahaha that would be jokes

  95. CraigZWE says:

anyone better than what we got

  96. RSH says:

Flamini played badly because we have this stupid 4-1-4-1 formation. He has no midfield partner. Ramsey was at his best with a CDM partner next to him when he played deeper. Now he’s playing higher up the pitch, but just playing useless passes when he is so much better than that. First step to doing better is to switch back to a 4-2-3-1 formation. Second step, drop Cazorla, put Ozil in the middle. 3rd, spend the next 48 hours signing a better striker, CDM, replacement CB. And then we can at least begin talking about challenging for any kind of trophy.

  97. GOONSTER says:

We just lack pace, our players can’t read the game defensively, we seem to just wait, wait and wait until the other team does a misplaced pass then we pick up possession..

We can’t close down, we can’t press, our midfielders look so small and slow, they get bullied off the ball so easily..

I don’t know why we are 3rd favorites ahead of Liverpool. Liverpool to me look miles better than us..

    1. rd_gunner says:

Saw the Liverpool match today and they are much much better than us..If the team doesn’t step up i can see the humiliations of last season repeating themselves !

  98. rock88 says:

WENGER U COULDNT FIND QUALITY STRIKER RIGHT? I UNDERSTANDY BUDDY U WORKED SO
HARD TO FIND THE STRIKERS THAT U HAVE FINALLY MADE A BID WITH ONLY 10 MINUTES LEFT
    IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW.

  99. Matt says:

Sanchez looked like the only one really trying today and no surprise the Ox got injured after a few minutes on the pitch. Our players are just weaklings.

  100. alejandro1301 says:

Sometimes the lads look like they hate winning! This is frustrating as hell, and ughh sanogo just takes the worst out of me, damn the boy is just.. I don’t know he’s young but that’s no excuse, it’s like he panics in front of goal I really am speechless… I can’t understand 2 things: 1 how we lack desire of winning, it’s most like we are afraid to lose instead! And 2 Wenger! Stupid tactics, Poor changes timing too. Ramsey is not playing well ffs, he might have scored but wilshere is doing things better atm. That’s why he should’ve played him at the second half and bring him on around the 6 min mark, along with campbell, give the boy a chance! Not criticizing he brought ox or poldi in, but poor timing in changes and he’s not seeing his best player’s mistakes (ramsey, really poor today, although i love the guy). We need a striker asap if not we’ll suffer, striker is priority over the cdm and cb, it just looks as sanogo is not ready and won’t be in a long time

    1. Hald says:

Idiot Wenger doesn’t gives a chance to Campbell.Fu*k off Wenger

      1. muffdiver says:

worlds best number 10 sits behind….postman pat , postman pat, postman pat an his black and white cat

        1. MrGunThemDown says:

if we dont get a world class centre forward or centre defensive midfield by deadline day and we end up having a poor season. WENGER MUST GO!! tired of him always throwing tittles away before the season even starts.

          1. fezzo afc x says:

Falco to Madrid via RF twitter account so go for BENZEMA loan or buy !!!

          2. muffdiver says:

            we sold carlos vela hahahaha
an now are after carlos bacca- whos not as good as vela.
            double ahahahaha

          3. mohawk says:

Sadly, getting transfers won’t solve the problem. Wenger has a massive collection of midfielders and not one clue how he can use them all.

Why have Campbell or Poldi on the team if you won’t let them play the wing???

How possibly is Wenger going to use Diaby, Rosicky, Poldi this season? He just puts Ozil or Cazorla on the wing or Flamini or Arteta at DM.

Wenger has so many players that he cannot or will not use wasting salary – he has created a nightmare.

Wenger needs to transfer some players in and some players out just as importantly – I don’t even care who leaves at this point (But Sanogo has got to make way, for anyone else).

      2. mohawk says:

Wenger has thrown a collection of players on the pitch with no tactical plan and no clue as to how they will world together on the pitch.

Sanchez, Ramsey, Ozil and Cazorla – all talented and all totally confused as to their roles – complete and total disorganization.

If Wenger puts Cazorla and Ozil on the pitch together one more time I will heave.

EVERYONE in the world can see the ugliness, everyone except Wenger.

Would have been better just to put the reserves on the pitch today – at least they know how to play together.

    2. shekar233 says:

When do we gunners learn ?? It was never the players….its that toothlesswenger spoiled the great Arsenal. I wonder if He knows anything about tactics.

And talking about injuries, mr. wenger, just help us once by sitting quiet. We dont need your heavy workout and training sessions and a special dietician.Let our players train just like other players at other clubs.

I wonder how we have 70% possession in games eliminating regular tracking back, hardly making any runs, never pressing high and still players get injured.

We needed a 4th choice CB nd v sold TV5 making us now desperate for 3rd choice cb. We signed sanchez while v needed a left footed LW. Mind u if u think sanchez (a right footed player), can play LW. for that we dont have to spend 40mil. we have Ox, gnabry etc. Thats our transfer business. Where are we standing now? We still need a st, dm, lw , CB just like last season and on top v need another cb for 4th choice.
Kudos to wenger. hes gonna make 1 huge signing per season. by the time he signs 11 big players , the previous signings are gonna cross their 30 yrs age. I pity us for the treatment towards us by our club. (The ozil signing was pure desperation to calm us down as he failed to sign a St). He tried hard to buy a suarez highlighting our great need for St, he failed and signed ozil, a cam. Now he says he doesnt need a st. Then why in 1st place did he need suarez? How did v suddenly solve the st crisis by signing no-one?? Its simple, he only wanted to spend some money to shut us up after 3-1 loss to AV. Bravo wenger

How the hell can we not see that it is wenger’s but not players fault. He wasn’t sure about himself and his capabilities to sign a new contract until he won the fa cup which he did barely overcoming championship side.. That is how arsenal are playing under an absolutely clueless manager. He was successful early in his career may b coz he had excellent players, players who wanted to prove something to the world, who couldn’t bare a defeat, May b wenger was never responsible for that success.

We still do have such players. The likes of Campbell, bellarin, chambers, gnabry, akpom, zelalem, but wenger wouldnt play them. Look how these kids played against benfica in the emirates cup, they wanted to prove that they deserve first team football. U could see the difference the next day when our senior team took on Monaco.

But still it isnt the player’s fault, if your manager doesnt know how to make the team counter-attack, how to make diagonal runs or doesnt have clue against high pressing teams then i only have pity for u players.

Poor ozil and sanchez, from playing beside Ronaldo and messi they have come down to a team that has a french kid from league 2 as 2nd chioce striker, not to mention the 1st choice.

It is time Arsenal needed a change. Change in tactics, change in philosophy, change in transfers more importantly change in manager. Even if it takes 3 years for us to win something, anyhow that is what is going to happen under current manager and his tactics. COYG. Lets demand for change.

I’ve been crying out for this for the years but the AKBs or “Spuds” in disguise on this site are ruing it for the rest of us!. Top 4 club not this season , Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City rare I utter that team no! But Wenger will help them too it!

      2. brpowers23 says:

Absolutely agree. Just ridiculous from Wenger.
Today’s game was the weakest one of the weekend. We looked miserable for all the reasons already stated here.

In addition to looking completely disorganized, why do we have to look like boys among men each time we take the field? We are not Barcelona, we moved the ball too slowly, which only leads to injuries. We are too small with so many CAMs and RWs and tiny CMs. WTF is our strategy this year?! We cannot just hope that Ramsey has another career season. We are completely off balance in personnel and strategy.

i have not seen a forward in the league that Sanogo could outplay. Who is scouting for talent for Arsenal?

    3. gunnerup says:

Also it seems as if the team aren’t even gel’d. All the misplaced passes and no good enough link up play. It’s like we don’t know what to do with the ball in attack. And it’s noticeably got worse each season. There’s some coaching issues in that regard that needs fixing. Its like wenger tellin em, jus go out and play. This is the first season ever, where I can say we look as if we stand ZERO chance of winning the league.

The “Wenger out” idiots really come out heavy after a draw or loss. You guys know so much about tactics, what teams are you currently managing? Poor match today, but not for anything you jist mentioned. The build up play was exactly how to play Leicester, but the first person who can tell me why the counter wouldn’t be successful today gets my lucky penny. Pretty sure I won’t get an intelligent answer of of this site

        1. NY_Gunner says:

          @Sacrificial_Pizza
They’re to busy givin each other “reach arounds” because we drew. So you’re in not expecting anything intelligent or logical from that lot…
