Mikel Merino expressed his admiration for the contribution of Arsenal’s new arrivals during their narrow defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

“We saw some new guys coming on the pitch under difficult circumstances, for example, Mosquera after the injury. They managed to come in these circumstances and do it as well as they could have done.
The whole team performed in a really good way, in a difficult stadium, with a lot of character. So disappointed for the loss, but lots of positives.”

I think Arsenal were badly hamstrung by negative tactics. The players who could have hurt Liverpool were benched – Eze, Nwaneri etc.
Why have these players when you don’t play them in games like this?
We lost the game, done in by tactics at the start. Spent 1 billion, over 250 million this Summer, and then show up on the back foot.
Laughable about Eze or Odegaard being “not fit” or “not ready,” when he starts an injured Saliba who is done after 4 minutes.
3 new attacking players, 190 million, and we play with Merino in midfield while Eze and Odegaard on the bench.
Setup, late subs, lacking bravery in attack, is all on the manager.
Hailed as a “tactical genius” if his tactics work, however they did not, so the blame falls on him.
Time to change the tactics, I fear this possession based back foot Arteta-ball will not win the league. Hard to make magic moments when you play so defensively off your back foot.
And how do you know Saliba was carrying injury before the match?
To the actual topic of the article though, Mosquera played fantastically.
I was a bit concerned when he fad to come on so early.

I personally feel arsenal will be very very hard to defeat this season as liverpool found out…I guarantee…if liverpool come to the emirates without Salah and VVD…they will be soundly beaten…I’m very very optimistic this season
