Pundit explains why he is sticking to Arsenal to be champions

Gary Neville has once again identified Arsenal as the side he believes can win the Premier League title this season. The former defender has backed the Gunners for the past three campaigns, and despite their consistent second-place finishes, he maintains that they are capable of finally going one step further.

Arsenal have finished runners-up for three consecutive years, a level of consistency that has firmly established them as one of the strongest clubs in England. Their performances have suggested that only fine margins have separated them from the champions, and many observers feel that this could be the season when they claim the crown.

This summer was considered crucial for Mikel Arteta’s team, and the Gunners responded by strengthening their squad with several high-quality additions. Among those arrivals was Viktor Gyökeres, the Swedish striker widely regarded as a proven goalscorer. His signing is viewed as the final piece needed to transform Arsenal from contenders into champions.

A Proven Goalscorer Added

For several seasons, much of the debate around Arsenal’s title credentials has centred on their lack of a clinical striker. Supporters and pundits alike argued that the team required a forward capable of converting opportunities into decisive goals on a regular basis. In Gyökeres, Arsenal believe they have secured that solution.

Whether he will deliver the goals needed to push them over the line remains to be seen, but his reputation and record provide cause for optimism. Combined with the team’s consistency and the steady improvements made under Arteta, Arsenal’s chances look stronger than ever heading into the new campaign.

Neville’s Backing for Arsenal

Neville underlined his reasoning as quoted by the Daily Mail, stating:

“I couldn’t separate them, so I have gone with the team I have gone with for the past three years, feeling that they are reliable, solid and consistent, which I think is important. They are consistently getting high points totals and finishing second to great teams, I think they have improved themselves, I think [Viktor] Gyökeres will do well for Arsenal.”

Arsenal began the new season with a significant victory, further strengthening belief that they can sustain another title challenge. Neville’s confidence reflects not only their improvements but also their resilience over recent campaigns, and he continues to see them as the side best placed to claim the Premier League trophy.

  1. Service is the topic here gentleman and women, so Saka going to cut in from the right period. . Whether or not Rodrigo or Rafael Leao or Martinelli can create havoc on the left is key, Leao,s a beast, haven’t seen enough Rodrigo tape to make me a believer and Martinelli just hasn’t delivered the goods yet. Love some additions, more still can be done, make happen Kroenke,s

    1. A keep saying not even among our fan base have seen such faith.

Now this is the second Manchester legend in as many day that detects somthing big is going to happen at the Emirates.

Am convinced, the minute Arsenal starts to move the ball quickly, a lot of teams is going to find themselves on the receiving ends of some heavy defeats this season, now that a goal God is in the fold.

It is for that reason , Saturday’s game is going to be very interesting

      1. You do know, don’t you, that this time last season, Neville picked Arsenal to win as well. The other pundit you refer to, who was Roy Keane, picked City as champions. They were, of course, both wrong as their picks finished 10 and 13 points respectively behind Liverpool.

Would it not be better to focus on the pundit who picked Liverpool this time last season? We should really have more “faith” in him, shouldn’t we?

          1. SueP

Absolutely right. It’s “faith” according to the original email, isn’t it? At least, though, the “Liverpool” picking pundit from 2024-25 would have more recent, winning, form.

It’s not a science at all of course, exact or otherwise, just guesswork and adding “educated” as a prefix doesn’t help as the forecasts from last season show.

Look, I’ve no problem with anyone taking a pundit’s views as a pointer – the two here may be right. I’m sure we all hope they are. However, if Arsenal win the title it will be on the pitch over 38 games, not in the TV studio or a newspaper column.

  2. Salah says Arsenal are the favorites. What is it with that club? They always want to be the underdogs. Just deal with it, Liv. You’re the team to beat. I will say, though, I am more worried about City than I was before the season started. They have so much creativity, and I was a little envious, but let’s wait til they play against top teams because both of them got cushy starts

  3. I’m jealous of city team too .with their attacking armoury they should be called arsenal in that regard🤣
