Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted that the time has come for Mikel Arteta to deliver a major trophy after Arsenal’s significant investment in the squad this summer.

It will not be a shock to the gaffer fans are expecting trophies at the Emirates this campaign.
As the campaign fizzled out last season, you could feel the desperation from the crowd to see success.
The gaffer has had his fair share of critics, who have questions his ability to win trophies, even my sons are asking questions.
But rarely have I seen two Manchester legends talking on separate occasions that Arsenal is now ready to win it all.
And that was before the Crystal Palace talisman on board
Failure to win and he must go, our club has never given anyone this amount of backing for failure.
There will always be IFs or BUTs and that’s life.. not an excuse but Arsenal are not the only team that brought in new signings to strengthen their team….. Unlike last season when every other team(except pool)were weakened due to one reason or the other… This season will be filled with many twist and turns and
at the end no team has the monopoly right to be the champion just because they’ve bought all the players they needed… I support the motion to sack Arteta at the end of the season if no major trophy is won ….but mind you that does not mean our trophy drought will come to an end even with new manager.
But we’re not talking about life here, but about money. If £1 billion has been spent with nothing to show for it in the end, then it’s highly unlikely they’ll be any room for “ifs” and “buts” in that argument.
As to changing the coach, I hope that it doesn’t happen because Arteta will be successful, but if Arsenal aren’t then I think it’s likely he’ll go. However, that’s normal in professional football. Really, the only unusual thing in that circumstance would be that Arteta lasted so long. He would have gone sooner at any other top club.
Of course, there’s no guarantee as you say that a new coach will be successful. However, that’s an argument, ultimately, for never changing the coach. In Arsenal’s context that would mean Wenger would never have arrived, for example.
Gabby is correct in his remarks, isn’t he.
With spending near, or at, £1 billion now since 2019 it’s time, as the article puts it to “transform promise into achievement”. No “ifs” or “buts”, just that!
The fans feel the same way so Gabby is saying what everyone here wants as well. And there truly is not excuse. Let’s make this the season finally. Time to turn out and win one of the big ones
Gabby, rarely talks sense and flip flops. Here, once again people are piling on to support silly reductive comments because they align with certain narrow-minded ideas
A number of people keep referencing the poor practice of hiring and firing without an underlying sound strategy as if it is some kind of “gold standard”.
When Gabby was directly challenged on these rather daft comments he was forced to back down. Yet, we now have some rather less discerning Arsenal fans fully supporting this kind of thinking..
