Arsenal transfer rumour round-up – Fellaini, Guruzeta, Wilshere exit?

We are two months from the winter transfer window, but the international break always spurns up a few transfer rumours to keep Arsenal fans busy.

The latest rumour to spring up is our supposed eyeing of Marouann Fellaini, with the midfielder rejecting an offer of an extended contract with Manchester United. The Belgian international is claimed to be keen on one last pay day as he looks to make maximum earnings with a free transfer move. The reality is that we are the first team to be linked with any player because our name sells, but he could actually be worth looking at as we look to beef up our midfield.

One player who is tipped to leave Arsenal on a free transfer is Jack Wilshere, with his contract also up come the summer. Real Betis are now claimed to be confident of striking a deal which would see him move to Spain, but the player himself has already reiterated his love for and desire to stay with Arsenal, and the most likely scenario would still see him at the Emirates next term.

Gorka Guruzeta is a new name for me, but one who I can foresee becoming a household name in the coming years. The 21 year-old opened the scoring for Athletic Bilbao against Manchester United’s Under-23 side yesterday with an astonishing volley, and all under the watchful eye of our scouts, as well as Chelsea’s and of course United’s. The striker has been impressing in Bilbao’s reserve side in Segunda B, and is available on a free transfer come the end of the campaign.

Can you see any truth in the latest rumours?

  1. I don’t want Fellaini thank you, and PLEASE stay jack !
Ozil, Mert, Sanchez, Walcott, Debuchy, and im sure there are more that havent mentioned who need to seriously get the F out the club!

  2. I doubt I could agree more with Drew above.
I’ve loved Ozil and Sanchez, but things have soured and it’s time for them to go.
I rate Sanhcez as one of the 5 best players in the world (at least last year he was), but I think he’s mentally checked out and we shouldn’t be wasting our time with someone who is not 100% committed.
Wenger has been good at offloading 29+ year olds when they have maybe 1-2 good years left. Ozil definitely falls into that category. We’re not going to get much more out of him.
Right now, Wilshere should be starting ahead of Ozil. We’ve noting to lose. Wilshere is at least committed, and he’s still relatively young (not many miles on his 25 year-old body). Yeah, there’s some off-the-field concerns, but let’s assume he’s matured and give him a chance for the remainder of this season. Ether he proves himself or he doesn’t.
Fellaini is not a game changer. It’d be like signing another Marounne Chamakh. He’d be half-decent, but he’s not going to turn things around for us.
Walcott screwed himself by trying to be something he’s not . . . a center forward. If he’d focused on honing his game out on the wing he could have been an Arsenal legend. As it stands, it’s time for him to go to West Ham and play out the twilight of his career.

    1. ” Walcott could have been an Arsenal legend”. Yes, if only he has some real talent, some courage, some muscles, some balls and some character, some way of staying fit and somewhere else to play his footballl. Hartlepool reserves for example!

  3. Ozil, sanchez and Giroud are good players but not committed to the team. Rather Wenger should let them go and set the team with signings like Lemar, Zaha etc

  4. Funny how everyone wants wilshere to play forgetting how injury prone he is.

    call a spade a spade.

we cant depend on wilshere and we all know it.

    sell wilshere,sanchez,ozil.in january.

ramsey moves to the free role from january till end of the season.if you have watched the games ozil was out ramsey is the one who played that role.

RAMSEY provided wenger stays is the heir to ozil.
he will only replace sanchez with someone like fekir or lemar.

    1. I don’t agree to sell Wilshere we can use him wisely and sparingly, lets not forget having a number 10 with his ability who will spend time on the bench is hard to find,

  5. Ramsey has the energy to burst up and down the midfield and I think we should really watch this space (the article) considering that the two players talked about would be free transfers… that is Arsense specialty.

  6. Wilshere won’t be going to Spain, certainly not to R Betis, maybe if Atletico called.

I know absolutely zero amount about the young Bilbao player, haven’t even done my background check or went through the record books and sought the temperature of fans thoughts over there ..ie youtube-best-skills and goals.

If Fellaini is off then I’d worry that Manu have won the race for Goretzka, unless it’s a spot for Ozil that he’s thinking. Our fans don’t seem to want him (Fellaini), but answer me this – would you have taken him at any time this season ahead of any of Ramsey Xhaka Coq Elneny Wilshere.
