It puts unnecessary pressure on a player drawing comparisons to distinguished players of the past. eg like when Gyokeres took the no14 shirt and at an instance he’s player rate, end production and expectation all falls within the shadow of Thierry – What a yoke it is for any player to bare.
My hope is that the talents we now brought into the arsenal team distinguish themselves much as the likes of Van Persie and Cesc did so as to be appreciated in each in their own right and by their individual merit.

Where a ‘private coach’ draws any nexus between a players state mind and CR7 and does so publicly it’s purpose is to endorse and up sell the player. WHY not keep the up-sale to himself and let fans determine [*for ourselves*] Noni’s attitude and mentality – and we’ll know it by his performances/consistency/ effectiveness on the pitch wearing the shirt???
