Arsenal still has no doubts about Arteta as their manager

Arsenal’s challenging run in their pursuit of the Premier League title this season has not shaken the club’s confidence in Mikel Arteta, with the board reportedly standing firmly behind their manager. The Gunners, tipped as potential champions, have failed to capitalise on a less dominant Manchester City, going winless in their last three league games ahead of a pivotal clash against Chelsea.

Arsenal entered the campaign with high expectations after finishing second last term, but their current dip in form has raised concerns among fans. Recent results, coupled with the announcement of sporting director Edu Gaspar’s departure, have heightened anxieties about the club’s direction. Despite this, Arteta’s position remains secure. According to Football Insider, Arsenal’s hierarchy continues to back the Spaniard, believing he is the right man to deliver long-term success.

The insider revealed that Arsenal’s leadership has no plans to panic, even amid this rough patch. “The club fully trust their manager and remain committed to supporting him to rebuild the team and bring success back,” the source said. Arteta has overseen a significant transformation at the Emirates, assembling a competitive squad that has regularly challenged for top honours in recent seasons.

For supporters, the idea of dismissing Arteta at this stage seems counterproductive. His project has shown clear signs of progress, and while setbacks are inevitable, consistency in leadership is often key to sustained success. As Arsenal prepares for their match against Chelsea, Arteta will aim to steer the team back on track and reignite their title charge.

The Gunners must find their winning touch quickly, as their ambitions hinge on maintaining pace with the league’s front-runners. With the club’s unwavering support, Arteta has the platform to turn Arsenal’s fortunes around and keep their Premier League dreams alive.

  1. The owners clearly aren’t going to sack Arteta at present so it’s a non-story story.

However, this season remains pivotal for him, I think. Failure to win the title would be a very big disappointment after two seasons of coming so close, particularly last season, along with the investment in players.

Obviously winning the CL would compensate but there was not much of a chance of that and, post-Inter, I don’t think that’s improved any. A domestic cup rather than either of those? Well, scant consolation really, I suspect.

  2. “Arsenal’s leadership has no plans to panic”. Hilarious as nobody ever plans to panic. It is the lack of planning and risk assessment that leads to panic and knee jerk reactions. The board will observe and wait until the end of the season and see if the objectives are met. A minimum criteria will probably be a Champions League place ( either top 4 or winning it). It’s up to Arteta to deliver this as cups are an added bonus but don’t deliver the big money or bring in/retain star players. Failure and at the end of the season the board may start to plan to bring in another manager.

    1. Really interesting post
As ever when it comes to the changing of the guard it takes balls and a dose of luck to not ruin what went before- even if it isn’t good enough for you

  3. Has the absence of Odegaard highlighted flaws in Arteta’s management skills?

Was his playing style too dependent upon Odegaard, with little or no Plan B or Plan C !

It seems to me that the team is often in disarray as Arteta tries changes to the personnel and their positions in an attempt to find a solution, and he hasn’t found one so far!!

The EPL is all about PACE and Power.

We have power, but in my view, we sadly lack Pace, especially in midfield.

I think Arteta and his current tactics really need close scrutiny at the moment.

I worry that the rest of the League have not only caught up with us, but are passing us.

The Chelsea game will be a good indicator of where we are, and whether the Board needs to look for a possible replacement for Arteta.

I would like to know why Edu decided it was time to leave!!

    1. Jax, if you want to compare like for like, then I suggest MA is in the position that Wenger was in, leading up to his resignation.
4,3,2,5,6, is similar to 8,8,5,2,2 in final PL positions, without even thinking about the money being laid out and is worrying to say the least.

      1. This is not a true “like for like” comparison as you have not controlled for any variables that could affect the final placings of a team.
For example, Arsenal points per season in the last two seasons is higher than any Arsenal team since the Invincibles.
