They’ve done a wonderful job so far. I was pessimistic a month ago but they’ve proven me wrong, which makes me happy.
Doesn’t look like Eze to Arsenal is remotely close to happening. £35M upfront surely blows Arsenals negotiating spreadsheet apart. Man City have Eze top of their wanted list too.
Why don’t we just go and get the next Eze in El Khannouss instead? Eze does not start ahead of any of the current Arsenal first choice 11, so if we really feel we need Eze as cover El Khannouss is the stronger option to cover from the bench as he grows and develops.
That’s a sound option. I prefer that and let Martinelli have a good go with the new players brought in …if he can’t make that next step then go for someone in Jan or let El.Khannous compete with him

Eze would be a first-team rotation option, not simply “cover” for Ødegaard. We have Nwaneri for that already. It’s going to be a very tough season with the reinforcements to Liverpool and Man City, and we saw last year that when Ødegaard is injured or off form, we have no-one to properly replace him. Nwaneri is great when he’s on form, but still young and inconsistent. After several games last year he dropped off. So we could absolutely use more firepower in creative midfield roles.
What are we waiting for? Eze is just what Arsenal need. Eze has so many creative qualities and can score important goals as well. If we can get Eze, Arsenal will really be strong in the fight for the Championship in the PL and in the CL. Arsenal can get a deal home by triggering the buyout release clause. Arsenal must pay and are ALLOWED to pay in 3 installments. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. Now it looks like Fulham might want both Nelson and Zinchenko, and Trossard is likely to be on his way out as well. So for Arsenal, it is now very important to get Eze over the line asap, before Man C, Man U, Tottenham, Newcastle and Bayern M start to hiijack the deal. That would IMO be catastrophic. That would be a big setback for Arsenal, who otherwise look set to achieve the best transfer window for many years.
Yes he has skill, flair and technical qualities. But where does Eze start and in front of in your first choice 11?
We have three left forwards in racoon, fast gab and Maddy, you are not convincing me Eze starts ahead of any of those as they play wing far more naturally. Eze does not start ahead of Rice or Merino at 8, not least as he doesn’t have the defensive and helping number 6 part of his game like they have. Ode starts ahead Eze if fit, if not fit we have the balked up Ethan, do we really need Eze as cover battling for starts with Ethan at 10 too?
No – we don’t need Eze. We are growing our own Eze’s in the hot house, we shouldn’t be going to the market to buy one.
In my opinion we have a lot of Eze type depth already. But what we don’t have is much midfield aggression, ball winning depth, nor a natural 9, as opposed to false 9, type depth. If we can afford another buy up to £45M, aggressive central midfielder Morten Hjulmand makes far more sense to add to the squad. I like Douglas Luiz too but he would cost more. Or a young number 9 to understudy Yok. Any of those much better use of the money and preparing the squad for battles to come, than Eze, not least because Arteta is shifting towards a greedy 2 DF 7 MF in hunger for the title, and in second half of last season we struggled for results because the 7 MF didn’t have enough defensive aggression and ball winning amongst them, it left our 2 DF stitched up especially from corners and set pieces – the errors leading to goals were not DF errors they were MF trying to help out defensively errors – good our two DF are they really can’t deliver major trophy if the 7 MF don’t help out well enough. I would prefer to see more of the type of MF who can play 6 and help defence with aggression and ball winning, can do the same from 8 too, than money spent on the not needed Eze.
Arteta will need versatile players like Eze with high quality. Arteta will have to learn from bitter experiences by wearing out the same players. This causes injuries and reduces our ability to go all the way. Arsenal have to play a lot of games in different competitions, and Arteta must therefore learn to rotate his players much more often. A class player like Eze, who almost always plays at a high level, will be indispensable in Arsenal’s attack , especially when ultra defensive defences need to be “unlocked”. Yes, Arsenal certainly need Eze, Eze knows the PL and the demands her. Eze can step in and make a difference here and now. That’s what Arsenal need.
Eze will IMO be the icing on the cake in this transfer window. Go for him.

The problem with being led by media stories and not with manager head on, media go for flair and attackers in their headlines, just like every fan names flair as favourite player when vox popped.
Can you imagine a headline “Arsenal in for Morten Hjulmand instead of Eze” selling copy?
But you win nowt without water carriers, and dour midfield ball winners who don’t go missing when marking up at corners, just as Party became an expert at going missing defensively last season.
What makes more sense for this Arsenal squad right now, is Douglas Luiz as rotate option with Zoob and Dec – not Eze to rotate with Ode and Ethan – this is so screaming obvious. Because if anything is to be won this season, it will come from protecting the sheet, and all the bone on bone knocks that will come from doing that properly over ten long months.
Eze starts ahead of Gab and Maddy. He’s proven to be the most productive and did that with a mid table team.
With the quality at Arsenal, Eze wil “explode” should he fit in well.
Odegaard is good when he has quality players around him. Saka and White makes him look so good.

Odegaard only start before Eze because he came here first, know the team in and out. Eze is not coming to play around, he’s coming for an unfinished business.

Infact only Saka, Rice and maybe Jesus ( 1st season here) can perform to the level of Eze in same Crystal Palace team.
And as for Martinelli, I don’t support him leaving, he has regress since Xhaka left and Arteta has never replace Xhaka since then.
Saka has Odegaard and Martinelli need his own Odegaard which I believe is Eze. Rice is good but I don’t see him passing more to the left cos he’s focus on pumping forward to score.

I don’t agree that Martinelli is poor because of the contingent around him. When Odegaard and White were out for a long spell last season Saka was the most creative player in the league. Saka takes the onus to make things happen himself, and I think he makes Odegaard’s job easier. The things that Martinelli should be doing better at are individual, in my opinion
You keep talking about the first-choice eleven. But something is changing this year. Arteta is building a team where we can change our starters depending on the opponent, rather than running out with basically the exact same first team every match. That’s why they’ve bought Madueke for example, and why they might be interested in Eze. For example, one game we might start Martinelli as a right-footed left wing who can push inside, another we might start Noni as a left-footed left wing because we want the width. Martinelli has struggled when asked to do that, it’s not as natural for him. We don’t have that currently across many positions. Eze, as I said in my other post, is depth at 10. Nwaneri, for all his great qualities, is currently not a serious first-team *rotation* option for Øde. I get your point that if Ødegaard can play 45+ games and stay on form, then we don’t need Eze, but that didn’t happen last season – so it can’t be that hard to understand why the club might be looking at some depth there.

35 million in today’s prices is peanuts. Agree to pay it up front if that’s what they want and negotiate the rest.
People here keep talking about first 11 when the RW currently occupied by yo number 11 martinelli is the only week point now in the team but i refuse to turn a blind eye to that , i read someone saying martinelli should have a go with the new set up, tell me exactly where do u expect martinelli to go but only backward or astray. I Hope the club the club grow up and sell martinelli then get eze or preferably xavi simons. Else I hope madueke comes through

Crystal Palace just playing hardball. A year from now, Eze’s value falls to 20-25M if he spends another year at the Palace..
Not so sure they are in a position to stomach such a huge. I think the deal will happen. We are in a strong position but just need to be patient. The “here we go” will be coming soon.
Anyone who says Arsenal “definitely need Eze” or “Eze is final piece of trophy winning jigsaw” more than happy to take you on, on basis you don’t understand football.
No one in the history of all football has ever won anything by packing the side with Eze’s flair, whilst overlooking water carriers and midfield bossers ball winning aggression and muscle. World Cups and English Premiership titles more often lifted by being the meanest defensive record in the competition.
Second half of last season Arsenal’s inability of getting a cleanie over the line was simply all due to packing the 8 player midfield with too much attacking flair which proved too often lame at protecting defence and and keeper. Manchester clubs City and Utd, and Arsenal too, are set up for trophyless pain and struggle for top 4 by conceding too many goals in the coming renewal. If Arteta is allowed to add Eze instead of another ball winning midfielder, he will fix the squad to his 2 7 1 system and not have enough wriggle room to battle out for the required cleanies. Since he switched to this last season, Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, all look like getting better defensive records than us, because their managers protect their defence more than Arteta is now doing with his team. In that start to the new season, can you see Arsenal beating Liverpool and Newcastle one-nil? Those are the sort of results you need to be capable of against rivals for titles. Ironically, when protecting defence better, we were closer to the title in the first two second places than last year and the coming season, since now Arteta has thrown the dice reverting the pyramid and bet the house on a flair packed midfield, I can confidently say it won’t work, because the whole history of football suggests it won’t.
Just pay the money, it’s our fault he left in the first place.

Because lets face it, Palace are within their rights to just hold out for the full payment of the clause if they so wished to. The fact their their willing to compromise is credit to them.
And if Arsenal refuse to play ball, then quite frankly Palace should tell Arsenal to jog on, and although I’m an Arsenal fan, I wouldn’t blame Palace one little bit.

Yes. Precisely what I and media reports are saying. Most transfers are not paid in the window but in later financial years – a lot of money committed up front in one window and the ability to do that runs out. Exactly the same reason Liverpool now have zero chance signing Izak this window after huge upfront for Etike and others.
Just an add-on to my previous post regarding Eze, I believe his clause runs out two weeks before the window shuts. So come on Arsenal get on with it, if your serious about getting him. 🤷♂️
