Gallas slams Arsenal stars for getting tired too soon

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has criticised the Gunners for looking fatigued early in the season despite not yet winning a major trophy under manager Mikel Arteta. Gallas, who has insight into both Arsenal and Chelsea’s intense competition demands, expressed disappointment with Arsenal’s recent performances and questioned the team’s stamina, especially given their recent history of falling just short in the title race.

Arsenal has undoubtedly been one of England’s strongest sides over the last two seasons, consistently pushing Manchester City in the Premier League. However, this season has seen a dip in form, and the club is currently struggling to regain the spark that defined their recent campaigns. With back-to-back losses in both league and European fixtures, there’s a growing concern among fans and analysts about Arsenal’s ability to challenge for titles in the current season. Gallas, quoted by Mirror Football, voiced these concerns bluntly, stating, “It’s unacceptable for Arsenal’s players to look tired at this time of the season.”

He highlighted that teams like Liverpool, who have previously succeeded in the Premier League and Champions League, might understandably experience dips due to the extended effort required to win major trophies. However, he pointed out that Arsenal, which has yet to win any significant silverware recently, should not be exhibiting signs of fatigue so early on. “Liverpool won the Premier League; they won the Champions League…you forgive them that because of what they won,” Gallas continued. “Arsenal has won absolutely nothing! Nothing. Why are they tired? Their arms don’t ache from lifting trophies.”

The frustration from Gallas reflects a sentiment that many Arsenal fans share. The club’s recent spending and squad development under Arteta has led to high expectations, with supporters hoping this would be the season Arsenal finally breaks their trophy drought. While Arsenal has undoubtedly improved, this recent slip in form has brought their resilience into question, especially as rivals like Liverpool look revitalised and determined to compete with Manchester City.

Gallas’s remarks are a wake-up call for the Arsenal squad, reminding them of the long road ahead. With many crucial matches to come, the Gunners need to reignite their form and stamina if they want to stay competitive in both domestic and European competitions. Arteta’s team has yet to reach the trophy-winning heights expected of them, and as Gallas points out, fatigue should not be a factor until they’ve proven themselves on the biggest stages. To live up to the high expectations set at the beginning of the season, Arsenal must overcome these early struggles, refocus their energy, and show the determination and fitness needed to stay in the race for major honours.
