Image: Confirmed Arsenal team to take on Villa

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has opted to name the same starting eleven against Aston Villa as he did against Manchester United last week, with Mo Elneny keeping his place alongside Partey in midfield.

All eyes will be on Emi Martinez’s return to the Emirates, after his move to the Midlands after helping Arsenal to win the FA Cup and Community Shield this summer, but it will likely be the Gunners current players who steal the headlines.

Should we perform anywhere close to as well as we did last weekend, Villa will struggle to enjoy much of the ball today, nor will they be expected to get any form of result.

While it was only a penalty that separated us at Old Trafford last weekend, I’ll be expecting much more luck back at the Emirates today.

    1. It won’t be same after 90 minutes that’s for sure. By the time they play their game in hand we will be very far they will have trouble seeing our tail lights.

  8. Today we remind them of their status as relegation fighters. We finish the game in first half. Second half they will be limiting the damage. The Man utd game was a setup, today is execution.

    No less than 2 goals from Aubameyang, expecting Lacazette to score too.

We are making Barkley and Greliah look like Xavi n Inesta. …fan favourite Willin…what a performance far, dude can not even make a back pass for get about passing forward.   57. Why does Holding has to deal with Grealish on right? What is the point of having right back if the center half has to deal with left wing and expose the center? Thats exactly what happened on both goals.

    1. When ever you start believing in team and think that we will go on a run..Arsenal never disappoint to bring your hopes crashing right back to ground. I hope MA gives these player a real kick in back side at half so we see much much more improved performance. Come on Arsenal we are home…wake up!!

      1. It’s frustrating! I want us to play more forward. It seems that the forward play will take some time, as our players are losing ball against quality opposition. I guess it will take a lot more time for us to develop our identity. Whenever people clear, the runners should try to be on hand to run into space and get forward. Today our midfield has also been a little underwhelming with Mo and TP not clicking as well. Dare I say this match would have better suited Xhaka/Ceballos? I don’t know,😂😂

  60. Take off Willian n bring on Pepe. At least he will create more space for other players to make runs. Willian is like a dum post which you hit the ball against to get it back 🤣🤣

      1. That goal was started by Willian typical loss of possession. Arteta undoings will be his funny decisions of sticking with Willian and wasting Aubameyang on the wing.

  64. Elneny has been shut down somewhat this match. Auba should be ready for a longball as we are playing deep and Willian should be a little more aware of his surroundings. Bellerin is doing fine, as is Saka after that OG. I hope Villa don’t figure us out and Laca should stop being a clown in front of goal.

    1. That’s what I am saying, long clearances are meant to be taken.. as Villa commit more forward space will open up. Our strikers should take advantage of that…

  71. I’m waiting for those that will say , aubamayang is not putting in the extra effort. Lacazette is just a rubbish player, how can a professional footballer heads the ball like that. Aubamayang and Tierney has been putting in quality balls but no one to use it

    1. Yes Lacazette is a better player overall but his horrendous finishing destroys that comparison. Man misses 5 good chance before scoring 1

After observing Arsenal under MA, it seems it’s MA’s tactics bec when he wants you can see the team playing good attractive and attacking football..match at old Trafford n games before lock down are clear cut examples but I fail to understand why is he hell bent on playing such boring unattractive football. May be he is afraid to lose his first job and get a bad spot on his resume.

    1. We need a taller false nine and a fast winger who can get past the opponents

      That was why I wanted Wout Weghorst and Adama Traore in the previous transfer window. But I think Arteta wants senior players that have excellent tactical awareness, not athletic attackers

  82. The whole team were shocking. I think some of the first team players are getting too comfortable and we don’t have a quick winger who can break defenses

    Tierney still has to learn a lot. Monreal and Robertson are more consistent than him

  84. Why don’t we commit to tackles? We had so many chances to tackle before the cross for their goal.
    Teams like Villa, Southampton, Leicester and Everton play quick attacking football while we piss about passing sideways and backwards. I’m sick of seeing spurs in top 4 while we are sliding further down the table.

    MA should really start to think about benching Willian from now on and Laca is not even pressing on the defence, let’s hope they can do something in the first 10 minutes otherwise pull them both out and bring Nkeitah and Pepe

  89. Willian is a shadow of a passenger; offered nothing in first half, and Holding dealing with Grealish is playing with fire. Need to pick up temp and start breaking down defenders.
    Pepe for Willian; wasn’t he brought in for his experience, technique, and dribbling? Willian shown nothing.

    We should be beating teams like villa ,we have partey ,Auba ,Gabriel ,world class players
