Flamengo are preparing a move for Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, with reports in Brazil suggesting talks have already begun. The 27-year-old striker is currently sidelined with a long-term injury and may struggle to find space in the squad once he returns.
Arsenal have strengthened significantly in attack this summer, adding Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres to the front line, and further signings are expected. As the Gunners build a deeper attacking unit, Gabriel Jesus could be pushed down the pecking order.
Flamengo pushing for deal with salary split option
According to a report by RTI Esporte, Flamengo are advancing in negotiations for Jesus and are preparing a formal offer. The Brazilian international has reportedly given the green light for talks to proceed, with a season-long loan and option to buy in June 2026 on the table.
Flamengo are also said to be proposing a salary split with Arsenal, covering half of Jesus’ wages over the course of the loan. They view the forward as a key addition to strengthen their squad during a demanding domestic and continental schedule.
From the player’s side, regular game time is a priority as he looks to secure a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
Arsenal’s Jorginho recently moved to the Brazailian side on a free transfer, joining the club before the Club World Cup.

Jesus still recovering from long-term ACL injury
Jesus has been out of action since suffering an ACL injury in the FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United in January. While his recovery is progressing well, a return to the pitch is not expected imminently.
Signed in summer 2022, Gabriel Jesus has made 96 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 26 goals. Whether or not he has played his final game for the Gunners remains to be seen.

Great news – if/when it happens.
If we’re honest about it, Jesus has been a (very) expensive luxury at Arsenal for some time now because he’s clearly injury-prone and is not effective in his designated role when he’s fit. That’s just the way it is.
It’s high time he went, even on a loan at a 50/50 wages split, but let’s wait and see. Fingers and toes crossed, everyone.
Both Jesús and the Ukrainian did made the impact they were brought in to make,
Agreed Gunsmoke, especially Jesus changed the mentality of the squad when it needed it the most. Jesus, while we may be regretful of his high wages, it is still possible that he regains the form which showed him to be the most technically gifted attacking player at the club imo. If a mandatory permanent transfer arrangement is included in the loan agreement I hope there is a significant sell-on clause as well.
We sometimes forget that some players have something else to offer off the pitch, BB
Very true SueP. 👍
Barbeques and grilles?
This player is earning twice the wages or more than Isak and cost nearly the same while returned 11,4 and 3 goals in 3 seasons.
And then here comes this loan deal , we pay the Flamengos to play for them! Easy way out to mask Mikel’s failed signings. Get the player back on the pitch and make him do his job – even if it’s the Carabao Cup, so be it. We have not won it in recent years.
Yes, but that was then. This is now, and nobody can really argue that Jesus has made much, if any, impact recently, can they.
In Summer 2025 surely the best deal for Arsenal (and Jesus) is that he moves on.
I believe he made a lasting impact, just not with his play since the original resurrection of the our competitiveness and ambitions.
Yes, I agree that he may well have made a lasting impact, but we shouldn’t keep a player on the books at £14m a season (with two seasons still left on his contract) in his circumstances for a mixture of historical and sentimental reasons. It’s not good business – and Arsenal is a business at the end of the day.
No disagreement there.
If that was the case in football, Mark Hughes or Manchini would still be at City! With such a thought process, no wonder Arsenal men never win anything because we are too sentimental to separate the chaff from the grain
A move is best for Arsenal and best for Jesus. I am appreciative of what he has done at Arsenal, but it is time to move on for everyone involved.
As long as they pay his full wages and medical bills
Maybe a change of scenery could just be what the doctor ordered for the Brazilian, if only his legs hold
A loan is a waste of time especially when we are still paying half of his salary. By the time the loan is done he’ll have 1 year left on the contract so he’ll fetch almost no money and he’ll likely be injured again based on his own record.
Rather sell for 5mil and get him off the books completely. Why waste everyones time and our money, we all know he’s not going to play for Arsenal again so why delay the inevitable??
I tend to agree, but I’m not sure Jesus would want a straight transfer because no club is going to match anywhere near his Arsenal wage. Who’d pay an injury-prone player that kind of money?
According to reports, he can get 100% of his Arsenal wage via the loan option (split 50/50 between the two clubs). That’s very significant given we’re talking about an enormous £14m a season gross.
“Who’d pay an injury-prone player that kind of money?” We paid it so it makes us look foolish
Yes, that’s true of course but I don’t think another club would do that.
Bertie hence why 5mil and not 20mil…..so they can afford to up the wage offer a bit
Already thought of mate
