Initially, it was Arsenal who looked most likely to sign Rodrygo, offering the Real Madrid winger a fresh start and an exciting sporting project. Frustrated with his situation at the Spanish giants, Rodrygo was reportedly tempted by the Gunners’ approach. However, his hesitation led Arsenal to walk away from the deal.
Instead, they acted swiftly to secure Noni Madueke for £52 million, effectively ending their pursuit of the Brazilian.
Liverpool also showed interest, but recent reports revealed that they too have cooled their stance due to Rodrygo’s wage demands, further complicating Real Madrid’s efforts to sell the player to a Premier League club.
Spurs Now Leading the Chase
According to TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur are now in pole position to sign the forward. The report claims that personal terms have been discussed, with Spurs preparing a substantial financial package to entice Rodrygo to north London.
The motivation behind Spurs’ move appears to be the potential departure of club legend Heung-Min Son. The South Korean forward is said to be considering a transfer to MLS side LAFC, and Spurs are eager to line up a marquee replacement. Rodrygo is viewed as a suitable heir, with TBR stating that “part of the North London club’s internal talks now focus on Rodrygo’s growing willingness to join.”

Should Arsenal Hijack the Deal?
While Arsenal fans may be disappointed to see a former target join their rivals, many have moved on. With Madueke now on the books and Eberechi Eze reportedly close to joining, Arsenal’s attacking ranks are already well stocked.
Even so, Rodrygo remains a top-tier talent, and with Real Madrid lowering their asking price, there is still a chance Arsenal could re-enter the race. The Gunners have form when it comes to hijacking transfers, and if Mikel Arteta sees a long-term fit, the Brazilian’s story in England might yet take a red-and-white twist.
But for now, Spurs look ready to make a major statement.
Would you welcome a late Rodrygo swoop, Gooners?

So here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….
You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans. Everyone is allowed to hold their own opinions even if you disagree with them. It COSTS NOTHING TO BE POLITE TO OTHER ARSENAL FANS.

His most likely destination, if he decides to leave, is still Arsenal imo.
yeah I tend to agree with you there.
Rodrygo will want to compete for all trophies, spurs can’t offer him that. I am not saying in any way that we are favourites for certain trophies, just saying it is more likely with us than spurs…
Rodrygo’s wage demands have turned away both Liverpool and Arsenal; high demands for a now bench player at Real Madrid.
Gyokeres, Mosquera, Zubimendi, (to name a few new players) wanted only Arsenal, and took steps to facilitate their move.
Rodrygo seems content to sit on Real Madrid bench rather than join Arsenal and take the LW spot.
He used to be hot $hit, now Rodrygo is like a warm fart. He has been surpassed by Vini jr., and Xavi seems to prefer Ardur on the wings over Rodrygo.
Pass on Rodrygo, we should go for players who want to be at Arsenal.
I prefer Eze; more versatility, actual PL experience and productivity. Eze is coming off a top season, while Rodrygo has been benched and moved further down the order.
I think Arsenal will probably go for Eze, but it’s unlikely they’ll bring in anyone else until players have been sold. It’s been one-way traffic so far (regarding fees, anyway) and that can’t go on too much, if any, longer.
I suggest that Rodrygo will be a well suited player for Arsenal but it will not be easy signing him because of his wage demands, but Arsenal should negotiate and see the outcome.
He wants game time and wouldn’t get that with us, him having to compete with Saka and we’ve got Madueke too so it’s no go as far as we are concerned.
Game time is not a problem with since he has been reportedly repuested to play on the left which we (Arsenal) have agreed, and have three left wingers is not a problem it just identifies good attacking quality, reinforcement and option.
As long as his wage demands remain high I dont see this happening.
